The 2025 Grammy Nominations
Well folks, another year has brought around the Grammy nominations, along with a fresh wave of excitement, surprises, and inevitable snubs. The nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards are here, and, as always, they've sparked plenty of discussions about who made the cut and who may have been overlooked.
Let’s start with the top nominees for the 2025 Grammys — leading the roster yet again is Beyoncé, who’s set an incredible personal record by amassing 11 nominations this year for her widely acclaimed album Cowboy Carter. This marks a career-best for Beyoncé, surpassing her 2009 tally of 10 nominations. But Beyoncé isn’t the only powerhouse making waves this year: she’s one of five remarkable women who have made history by being nominated in all three of the Grammys' top categories: Record, Song, and Album of the Year. Joining her in these prestigious nominations are Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan, and Sabrina Carpenter.
Following Beyoncé’s lead with 11 nominations, we have a four-way tie for second place with Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, and Charli XCX, each pulling in an impressive seven nominations. Right behind them, Swift, Roan, and Carpenter each hold six nominations. With such a strong showing from these artists, the Feb. 1 ceremony will be filled with high expectations and fierce competition, especially in the top categories. Fans are particularly hoping that this might be the year Beyoncé finally takes home either Album or Record of the Year — two significant wins that have eluded her despite her historic Grammy achievements. However, the competition is tough, as every woman in these top categories has contributed to defining the cultural landscape in 2024 with unique, impactful moments.
Of course, no Grammy nomination announcement would be complete without a few notable snubs. This year, Dua Lipa was one of the most shocking omissions. Despite releasing her critically acclaimed third studio album, Radical Optimism, which included hit singles like Houdini, Training Season, and Illusion — all produced in collaboration with Tame Impala — the three-time Grammy winner didn’t receive a single nomination. The exclusion has left fans and industry insiders alike puzzled, given that her album was anticipated to be a contender in at least one category at this years Grammys.
